I have been teaching yoga since 2007, and more recently started practicing massage.

I grew up in Powell, graduated from Webb, and after a summer as a river guide in the Grand Tetons, went to Middlebury College in Vermont. Interested in cosmology, I graduated Cum Laude with an Honors degree in Religion. My field of study was Buddhism, particularly Buddhist liberation theology in 20th Century India and Sri Lanka.

As part of my studies, I spent a semester in a Buddhist monastery in Bodh Gaya, India, where I spent time meditating under the bodhi tree, the site of the Buddha’s enlightenment. This was a pivotal experience in my adult life.

After stints volunteering for Mother Teresa in Calcutta, teaching English for the Dalai Lama’s Tibetan government-in-exile, and careers in marketing, elementary education, substance abuse counseling, and medical equipment sales, I found a calling in massage.

It is my pleasure to serve the Knoxville community with a mindful, rational, and evidence-based approach to bodywork.

Massage Therapy Credentials

I graduated from the Tennessee School of Therapeutic Massage, where I studied Swedish massage, deep tissue massage, hot stone, and prenatal massage.

My specialty is lymphatic drainage massage, particularly post-op lymphatic massage. I have completed numerous trainings related to this niche, and strive to deliver superior service to people recovering from surgery.

I’m also a certified Thai yoga practitioner. I attended a 164-hour intensive at the Thai Yoga Center in Brooksville, Florida.

I’m also certified to practice Lomi Lomi Hawaiian therapeutic massage by Wolfgang Luckmann. The long, flowing strokes and broad, deep pressure make this a favorite massage modality.

Other certifications include body sculpting with ultrasound cavitation and radio frequency skin tightening, cellulite massage, wood therapy, cupping, and coursework in ashiatsu barefoot massage.

My TN massage license number is 13326. Here’s a link to my certification letter on the state’s website.
